Wai Ling Fong, PhD, is an educator and researcher from Malaysia. Her work focuses on the long-term impact of online faculty development programs created during COVID-19. She conducted a case study comparing data from 2021 and 2024 to see how online training continues to shape teaching practices. Recently, she was named Best Doctoral Student of the Year by George Mason University’s Higher Education Program.
Wai Ling has been active in the Mason community, participating in workshops through the Communications Academy and the Writing Center. She also created a writing circle that helped her complete her dissertation and build community. Inspired by her early experiences watching 3MT, she took part in her final year, finding it a valuable challenge to communicate her research concisely.
Dr. Fong aims to use her research and program design skills to develop wellness and well-being programs in higher education and continue her work in student affairs.
